Welcome to the very first post of Glen Ridge FIRST

If you’d like to know more about Glen Ridge FIRST, please click on the “About Glen Ridge FIRST” tab above. The first order of business is introducing the Board and Executive Team:

Yin Chang-D’Arcy (President & Founding Member)

Kim McGuire (Vice President & Founding Member)

Anthony Bonnett (Treasurer)

Ingrid Kozlowski (Board Member)

Wendi Lui (Board Member)

Just a few clarifications about Glen Ridge FIRST (GRF). We are a non-profit, which means that no one is compensated financially or otherwise. We are a purely volunteer-based organization that is focused on stimulating interest and supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math for kids. What does that mean? We are going to be doing a lot of work because we love it. And, you and your family, will (hopefully) benefit. Even better, we hope you’ll get involved.

We’ve been fortunate to have had the wonderful parents, Dr. Mucciolo and the administration support or initial endeavors. We’re less than 6 months old and our current activities include:

– Formation of 11 12 Jr. FIRST LEGO League teams (an exhibition will happen this coming  February)

– Technology and Engineering-based programs including prep for anyone interested in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge next year, a fierce competition for kids 9  to 14 years old as well as bringing in Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Engineering

There will be much, much more. We’d love to hear from you and have received much feedback from parents (mostly good I’m happy to say).

Stay tuned here for more information and a website some day in the near future.
